Job summary

AppFolio is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Resident Concierge subsegment. You will shape the technical vision, design scalable distributed systems, and mentor engineers in a fast-growing SaaS environment.

You’ll collaborate with Product, Design, and ML leaders to deliver production-grade software, applying AI-assisted techniques and maintaining high standards of excellence in a collaborative, high-stakes setting.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience developing and scaling web-based applications, preferably SaaS.
Experience leading architectural discussions and guiding technical decisions.
Proven track record delivering complex distributed systems at scale.
Experience applying AI tooling to software development and product efforts.
Strong focus on maintainable architecture and long-term system health.

Responsibilities

Drive the technical vision and strategy across the Resident Concierge subsegment, influencing the roadmap and architecture.
Lead design and implementation of distributed systems to support high traffic and engagement.
Coach engineers to foster a high-trust, autonomous culture and accelerate delivery.
Collaborate with Product, Design, and ML leaders to align AI capabilities with customer value.
Manage full lifecycle of solutions from discovery to production in an autonomous team.
Proactively research and apply new technologies to improve quality and speed.
