Job summary

Harvey is seeking a Software Engineer, Agents, to build the systems that make our AI agents indispensable to legal professionals. You will design environments and actions for agentic work, make model selection decisions, manage context windows, create optimal tools, and develop evals that enable faster iteration loops to unlock new capabilities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with LLM APIs and agent frameworks.
• Experience shipping user-facing products, backend or full-stack.
• Iterative mindset: develop proofs of concept and ship v0s.
• Ability to use evaluations to drive quality and decision making.
• Humility and adaptability to adopt new best practices.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customers and PMs to understand legal workflows and ship agents that get the job done.
• Optimize agent performance through prompt engineering, model selection, tool design, and context management.
• Collaborate with model infra to implement low-latency agent execution and caching strategies.
• Improve observability to profile agent behavior and drive optimization decisions.
• Stay current on agentic systems and bring learnings back to product development.
