Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Access Management team in Bellevue, WA. You will help shape the vision and technical direction for access control across our data platform, working with distributed teams to deliver scalable backend services.

You will evolve core authorization services, migrate to unified models, and implement fine-grained controls, while ensuring availability and low latency for customers.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in access management, identity, or authorization systems.
• Strong distributed systems and security fundamentals.
• Demonstrated technical leadership on a team, ideally across multiple locations.
• Track record of designing and shipping backend services at scale.

Responsibilities

• Evolving the platform’s core authorization service and improving on-critical-path access-control decisions.
• Migrate and consolidate permission-checking onto a unified authorization model.
• Build fine-grained access controls: scoped service identities, delegated access, and RBAC.
• Define network ingress access policy for customer resources and improve availability and latency of the authorization service.
