Job summary

Databricks is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Access Management team in Bellevue, WA. You will own core authorization services, drive a unified authorization model, and implement fine-grained access controls at scale to protect customer data.

You will lead technical direction across distributed teams, improve availability of high-throughput services, and collaborate with Security Engineering and Trust & Safety to maintain platform trust and reliability.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in access management, identity, or authorization systems.
• Strong distributed systems and security fundamentals.
• Demonstrated technical leadership on a team, ideally across multiple locations.
• Track record of designing and shipping backend services at scale.

Responsibilities

• Evolving the platform's core authorization service on the critical path of access-control decisions.
• Migrating and consolidating permission-checking across the platform onto a unified authorization model.
• Building fine-grained access controls: scoped service identities, delegated access, and RBAC.
• Network ingress access policy for customer resources.
• Raising the availability and reliability of a high-throughput, low-latency authorization service.
