Job summary

Vyne is a healthcare technology company focused on helping dental practices and payers simplify revenue cycle management. The Staff Software Engineer will contribute across UI, API, service, and database layers to elevate Insurance Remittance within the Trellis product.

You will own end-to-end development, drive architecture discussions, and help automate posting workflows. Remote-first with a preference for Utah, Indiana, Georgia, or Tennessee, the role collaborates with cross-functional teams

General Summary

The Staff Software Engineer will serve as a highly capable full-stack contributor on the team responsible for elevating Insurance Remittance into a first-class capability within Vyne's Trellis product. Working closely with the Principal Engineer, this role will help translate technical vision and architectural direction into reliable, scalable solutions across the UI, API, service, and database layers.

This position will contribute to features that provide greater visibility into insurance remittance activity, accelerate insurance payment posting, and guide practice staff through the insurance posting process. The Staff Software Engineer will bring strong engineering judgment to architecture and design discussions while maintaining a high level of ownership over full-stack development, code quality, testing, and documentation.

The role will play an important part in advancing Trellis toward automated insurance posting, helping increase customer value, reduce manual effort, and support Vyne's continued growth in the healthcare revenue cycle market.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Contribute as a strong full-stack engineer across UI, API, service, and database layers while working within the architectural direction established by the Principal Engineer.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software solutions supporting Insurance Remittance capabilities within the Trellis product.
• Build features that provide clear visibility into insurance remittance activity associated with incoming Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs).
• Develop summary and detail views that help practice staff more efficiently understand and post insurance funds.
• Design and implement guided workflows that educate and support practice staff throughout the insurance posting process.
• Participate actively in architecture and design discussions, providing thoughtful engineering perspectives, identifying potential challenges, and presenting viable alternatives.
• Translate architectural direction and product requirements into well-designed, maintainable, and reliable software.
• Collaborate closely with the Principal Engineer, VP, Product, Design, QA, and other engineering team members to deliver roadmap priorities.
• Take ownership of assigned full-stack work from UI through database, minimizing rework through thoughtful design, implementation, and testing.
• Contribute to code quality standards, automated testing, technical documentation, and engineering best practices as the team and codebase grow.
• Help identify opportunities to improve system reliability, scalability, maintainability, and developer experience.
• Develop a strong understanding of healthcare, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), insurance remittance, and ERA workflows to effectively contribute to product and technical decisions.
• Support the team's continued progress toward automated insurance posting and other strategic product capabilities.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business and organizational objectives.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated full-stack development capability.
• Experience operating at a Staff-level capacity, including meaningful participation in architecture and technical design discussions across multiple layers of an application.
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing production software across frontend, backend, services, and database layers.
• Experience working with AWS and ECS-based service architectures.
• Healthcare, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), insurance claims, insurance remittance, or Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong level knowledge of AI-enhanced development tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code)
• Strong proficiency with TypeScript across the application stack.
• Strong experience with ReactJS and modern frontend development practices.
• Experience developing backend APIs using Fastify and Zod or comparable TypeScript-based frameworks and validation libraries.
• Experience working with AWS/ECS-based architectures and cloud-native application development.
• Ability to understand and contribute to technical architecture across UI, API, service, and database layers.
• Strong software design and engineering judgment, with the ability to evaluate tradeoffs and communicate technical recommendations effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of complex technical work and deliver reliable, maintainable solutions with minimal oversight.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, including testing, code review, documentation, and deployment.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineering, Product, Design, QA, and business stakeholders.
• Ability to learn complex healthcare and revenue cycle workflows and apply that knowledge to technical and product decisions.
• Experience with Ant Design and/or internal design systems is preferred.
• Experience building healthcare, RCM, insurance, or financial workflow applications is preferred.
• Experience contributing to products involving automated workflows, payment processing, remittance, or financial transaction data is a plus.
