Job summary

Bloc Recruitment seeks a Staff/Principal Software Engineer for an AI-native fintech startup born from a $10m seed and led by top VC partners. You will architect end-to-end AI-driven bookkeeping workflows, own core integrations, and build a scalable ledger from the ground up.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on software engineering experience.
• Deep TypeScript/Next.js fluency across the full stack.
• Real experience building with LLMs/AI agents in production.
• Comfortable owning ambiguous problems with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Build AI agents that autonomously run end-to-end bookkeeping workflows for SMBs.
• Own integrations with Ramp, Brex, Gusto — scoping through production, no handoffs.
• Architect an accounting ledger from scratch — the core financial data infrastructure.
• Ship daily in TypeScript/Next.js, full stack (60% frontend, 40% backend).
• Talk directly to test customers and partners you drive the product, not a spec doc.

Staff/Principal Software Engineer x4 – AI-Native Fintech

Salary up to $350k +$50k (add to Salary/Equity) + 0.5–2% equity

Small business bookkeeping, manual, expensive, error‑prone hasn’t fundamentally changed in decades. This team is synthetically recreating the entire profession with autonomous AI, and they need a Staff or Principal engineer to help architect it from the ground up.

No legacy systems. No ML research theatre. Just real agents doing real financial work for real customers.
