Qualifications

• 5+ years building production systems.
• Staff/principal-caliber engineering ability.
• Strong Python & TypeScript experience.
• Experience from top-tier companies like Shopify, Scale AI, Perplexity, Ramp, Palantir or top-tier FAANG teams.
• CS degree from a top school is a plus.
• Early-stage (~10 person) team with significant runway.
• Founded by the team behind a major previous company.
• CTO-track opportunity with real ownership.

Founding Staff Software Engineer | AI Agents | SF | $250-430k + Equity

I’m working with an agentic AI startup in SF breaking into a totally novel area. Serious runway and heavily VC-backed by top investors. Founded by the same team behind a major prior company... this is their second act with real resources behind it.

They’re hiring a Founding Engineer (Staff/Principal level) to own the core systems behind this vision.

You'll own the entire product and platform layer, set the engineering standard, and grow into a CTO-track position.

You’ll build across the stack:

• Workflow orchestration and internal tools
• Data systems for training, evaluation, and verification
• Product surfaces powering autonomous companies
• The engineering foundations that the team will scale on

This is a true founding role for a senior generalist who wants end-to-end ownership - setting architecture, engineering standards, and eventually helping build the team.

Ideal background:
