💻 Staff Software Engineer

📍 Hybrid in Pennsylvania or remote on East Coast

We are working with a company building a modern operating system for behavioral health facilities. Their software already supports hundreds of facilities nationwide and is scaling quickly as they bring modern engineering to a part of healthcare that has historically been underserved.

Looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to lead platform architecture, scaling, and performance. This role is about ownership at the system level: ensuring the platform is secure, fast, and reliable while supporting a rapidly expanding customer base and product surface area. You’ll partner with product engineers to design primitives that make feature development easier and safer, while also driving technical initiatives across infrastructure, data, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver scalable backend services leveraging Golang, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Diagnose and resolve performance challenges in a data‑intensive environment, ensuring reliability and low‑latency across APIs, background processes, and storage systems.
• Define and refine platform‑wide engineering patterns — including authentication, caching, monitoring, CI/CD, and deployment frameworks.
• Collaborate with the CTO to guide long‑term technical strategy and system design.
• Mentor and support other engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence across the backend team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building and operating backend systems in production environments (SaaS or high‑growth preferred).
• Strong background in data modeling and API design for complex, data‑driven products.
• Proficiency in the following: Golang, PostgreSQL, or cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP).
• Experience with distributed systems, performance optimization, or large‑scale data pipelines.
• A product‑oriented mindset, you care about how engineering choices impact end users.
• Clear, pragmatic communicator who enjoys solving hard problems collaboratively.
• Full‑stack familiarity is a plus, though this position focuses primarily on backend development.
• Bonus: experience in domains such as fintech, payments, or healthcare systems, or exposure to AI‑driven applications and workflows.
