Overview

Our team is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Staff Engineer to join us in driving innovation within the Vehicle Connectivity space. In this role, you\'ll be responsible for translating complex use cases into robust software solutions, including software design, development, and verification (such as unit testing and integration testing). You will contribute to building cloud-native applications and feature components that enable next-generation vehicle connectivity. Our team emphasizes modern software development practices, leveraging microservices architecture and model-based system design to deliver scalable and optimized solutions.

What You’ll Do

• System Architecture and Design: design, code, and deploy independently with minimal or no assistance from other team members.
• Lead the design and architecture of complex, large-scale cloud software systems or platforms.
• Make strategic decisions related to system architecture, technology stack, and design patterns with a strong focus on meeting product requirements.
• Design systems for horizontal and vertical scalability and optimize performance; identify and address bottlenecks.
• Develop with a user-centric mindset, ensuring architectural decisions align with user needs and product requirements.
• Collaborate closely with product management to understand and incorporate user feedback into system design.
• Hands-on coding and productionization of critical components using Java and Rust; demonstrate coding excellence and adherence to best practices.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and production-maintenance practices; leverage DevOps skills, CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure as code.
• Lead efforts to troubleshoot, resolve, and preemptively mitigate complex technical issues.
• Work cross-functionally with product management, business, DevOps, and other engineering teams to align architectural decisions with company objectives.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, evaluate new tools and technologies, and recommend improvements to the platform.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Staff Software Engineer with a focus on software system architecture.
• 10+ years of industry experience in designing, building, and productionizing large-scale cloud software systems or platforms, with 3+ years in a hands-on architectural role.
• Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages (Java preferred) and frameworks.
• Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
• In-depth knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Database expertise, including SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• Knowledge of software systems involving large data sets; understanding of data governance, privacy, and compliance.
• Strong user-centric mindset with experience in designing practical systems that meet product requirements.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills; proven ability to make strategic technical decisions aligned with business goals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Device connectivity experience.

Compensation and Benefits

• The expected base compensation for this role is: $160,000 - $240,000. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
