Job summary

Base Career is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-native applications. You will build scalable REST APIs with Node.js and React front-ends, and help shape architectural decisions.

The role emphasizes performance, secure integrations, and mentoring junior engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business goals. Strong SQL, ETL, and Kubernetes experience with Azure is valued.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.

• Design and implement secure, reliable integrations between internal and external systems.
• Create and optimize SQL database schemas, stored procedures, indexes, and queries.
• Troubleshoot application, API, and database performance issues.
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews.

• W hat you will need to succeed in this position:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing full-stack applications using Node.js for backend services and React for modern web applications, including experience with relational database design, SQL query optimization, indexing, execution-plan analysis, cloud database operations, and large-scale ETL pipelines.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes is preferred.
• Experience with Git-based source control and modern development workflows.
• Experience working in cloud environments; Microsoft Azure preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience designing normalized and high-performance SQL database schemas.
• Proficiency writing and tuning complex SQL queries.
• Strong understanding of relational database design principles.
• Experience creating indexes, analyzing execution plans, and resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Experience with database migrations, data integrity, and backup/recovery concepts.
• Familiarity with data modeling, ETL processes, and large-volume data handling.
• Experience supporting production databases in a cloud environment.
• Pay Range: $136,300.00 to $181,700.00 per annum. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for the role. This may vary depending on experience and other factors.
