Job description

STAFF SITE HEALTH & SAFETY SPECIALIST

Location: Reading, PA

Duration: Long term contract

Description:

The Staff Site Safety & Health Specialist will support the site project management team to deliver project-specific Safety & Health programs at the field location. This position will create and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe, healthy, and incident-free work site in a heavy construction environment.

  1. Monitor Safety & Health activities on field construction projects to verify operations are executed as planned and conducted safely.
  2. Execute Safety & Health Program deliverables as defined by the Corporate Safety & Health department, responding to questions and concerns related to site safety and health compliance.
  3. Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations.
  4. Investigate actions related to work stoppages when immediate danger is present.
  5. Report resolved safety and health concerns, including details and involved personnel.
  6. Present safety and health information to ensure effective program implementation and documentation.
  7. Communicate with client Safety & Health department regarding safety issues, preventative measures, and build relationships with project staff and subcontractors.
  8. Conduct safety walk-through assessments with subcontractor safety personnel and present findings.
  9. Manage and document safety activities requiring immediate correction, ensuring timely resolution.
  10. Prepare safety-related documents and assist site management in safety awareness efforts.
  11. Conduct and document safety and health training sessions.
  12. Review incident reports and recommend countermeasures.
  13. Present project safety progress, challenges, and objectives to the Corporate Safety & Health team.
  14. Ensure project safety records are audit-ready and maintain documentation for subcontractors.
  15. Travel to various project sites as needed.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management with 3 years of relevant experience, OR
  • Associate Degree in the same fields with 5 years of experience, OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with 7 years of relevant experience.

Required knowledge of OSHA regulations, ANSI, NIOSH, Army Corps of Engineers standards, NEC, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Excellent communication skills, willingness to work various schedules, and valid driver's license are required. OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training is mandatory.
