Enigma is seeking a Staff/Senior Data Scientist to join the Entity Resolution team in Los Angeles, CA (onsite). You will design end-to-end data solutions, improve accuracy and scalability, and contribute to customer-facing outputs on a robust data platform.

The role requires 6–8+ years of experience, a proven tech-lead track record, and an advanced degree in a quantitative field. Databricks, Spark SQL, PySpark, Python, and ML/AI proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• 6–8+ years of industry experience across statistics, experiment design, and distributed machine learning.
• Experience serving as a tech lead or mentoring other data scientists.
• Strong communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bias toward shipping: learns fast, delivers real progress for customers, and improves iteratively.
• An advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., CS, Math, Physics) or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer goals into working solutions using large-scale data transformation, sound statistics, and high-quality code.
• Deliver most work in Databricks with Spark SQL and PySpark, supported by statistical tooling and ML/AI when needed.
• Maintain rigorous standards for analysis and model development to ensure results are high-quality and reproducible.
• Validate entity resolution and related outputs against ground truth using repeatable strategies.
• Own problems end to end, from raw source data to models and scalable pipelines through to the customer interface.

Enigma is hiring a Staff/Senior Data Scientist to join the Entity Resolution team in Los Angeles, CA (onsite). This role is built for people who enjoy turning raw data into reliable, customer-facing solutions. You will help raise accuracy, scalability, and predictive performance across Enigma’s data platform by designing end-to-end systems and robust validation strategies.

Compensation for this position is $180,000–$295,000 per year. Enigma also offers equity, because the company believes every employee should have the option to purchase ownership and share in the value created together, plus additional benefits and opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer goals into working solutions using large-scale data transformation, sound statistics, and high-quality code.
• Deliver most work in Databricks with Spark SQL and PySpark, supported by statistical tooling and ML/AI when the problem calls for it.
• Maintain rigorous standards for analysis and model development to ensure results are high-quality and reproducible.
• Validate entity resolution and related outputs against ground truth using repeatable strategies.
• Detect gaps in data, identify their source, and close them in ways that improve the product.
• Use a first-principles, data-focused approach: prioritize simple and elegant solutions, while implementing state-of-the‑art methods when needed.
• Own problems end to end, from raw source data to models and scalable pipelines through to the customer interface.

Requirements

• 6‑8+ years of industry experience across statistics, experiment design, and distributed machine learning, with a record of creative, customer‑impacting application.
• Experience serving as a tech lead or mentoring other data scientists.
• Strong technical opinions, balanced with openness to other perspectives and approaches.
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• A bias toward shipping: learns fast, delivers real progress for customers, and improves iteratively.
• A principled, metrics‑driven approach to complex data problems.
• An advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (for example, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics) or equivalent industry experience.
