Staff Security Software Engineer

AI Security scale-up (Series B SaaS)

$200-225k USD + competitive equity

This AI SOC scale-up is looking for a Staff Security Software Engineer to help them grow out their security team following their recent Series B funding raise. This is a new team that has been created this year, so you will be one of the founding members, and will be pivotal to the team, and company's, growth over the next 12+ months.

Most importantly, they're looking for someone who is strong and comfortable in both security engineering, but also hands-on software development / coding. This is an IC role.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security features across the company’s core software stack, including embedded systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with software and hardware teams to integrate security best practices into every layer of the product lifecycle.
• Lead threat modeling, code reviews, and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
• Develop internal tools, libraries, and automation to improve security posture and incident response capabilities.
• Act as a founding member of the security team, helping shape long-term technical strategy, team culture, and hiring priorities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience in security engineering with strong coding proficiency in languages such as GoLang or Python.
• 5+ years' experience working in a venture-backed scale-up company
• Deep understanding of secure systems design, including topics like memory safety, access control, secure boot, and cryptography.
• Experience securing low-level or embedded systems, preferably in a hardware-adjacent or high-performance computing environment.
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced start-up environment and make pragmatic security decisions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence cross-functional teams and drive security initiatives from ideation to deployment.
