Job summary

GEICO is seeking a highly experienced Staff Security Engineer to lead vulnerability management across a complex hybrid tech ecosystem. You will own the lifecycle from discovery to remediation, collaborating with infrastructure, cloud, and product teams to embed a security-first approach.

You will act as a hands-on advisor to leadership, participate in on‑call rotations, and drive automated security improvements that raise overall engineering maturity and posture.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity or security engineering roles.
• Deep expertise in vulnerability management, security engineering, and modern infrastructure.
• Strong programming/scripting skills (Python, Go, Java) with automation experience.
• Strong SQL/data mining capabilities for security datasets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full vulnerability lifecycle from discovery, validation, contextual risk analysis, prioritization, to remediation.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and product engineering teams to embed security into delivery workflows.
• Provide advisory leadership to executives while remaining grounded in day-to-day security operations.
• Drive automation across scanning, triage, remediation tracking, and reporting.
