Job summary

NextGen Healthcare is seeking an experienced Staff Security Engineer to join our Security Engineering team to advance our security posture through automation, AI, and modern cloud-native security tooling.

The ideal candidate brings a software background and hands-on experience protecting against application and infrastructure threats, with a track record in DevSecOps, IaC security, and incident response. This role emphasizes collaboration with DevOps, application teams, and security operations.

Qualifications

6+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, security, or related fields.
Experience with Git, Jira, and Confluence.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain security tooling, guidelines, and standards for the Security Engineering team.
Collaborate with DevSecOps to author cloud-native security policies via Terraform and IaC scanning for all IaaS deployments.
Participate in threat intelligence and forensic analysis exercises to predict and prevent attacks.
Automate mitigation of vulnerabilities across cloud workloads with application and infrastructure teams.
Create and maintain runbooks and incident response documentation for the SOC.
Monitor and alert on correlated events in the SIEM with rate-based thresholds.
Leverage AI-enabled tools to speed up security reviews of IaC, PRs, and architecture designs.
Identify misconfigurations, excessive permissions, and exposure using CNAPP and integrate findings with SIEM.
Research AI-driven threats and translate findings into detections and guidance for engineers.
