Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Staff Security Engineer to join a remote-first, US-based team. You will design defenses, build scalable security across systems, and partner with engineering to weave security into day-to-day workflows while contributing to incident response and compliance readiness.

The ideal candidate will bring broad security engineering depth, strong technical judgment, and experience using automation and AI to improve detection and response.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in security engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience across multiple security domains.
• Advanced hands-on experience with AI tools and automation.
• Experience in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Hands-on incident response and on-call experience.
• Excellent communication skills and technical judgment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement security solutions across multiple security domains.
• Conduct threat modeling for systems and new products.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security into workflows.
• Automate security alerts and response workflows using AI.
• Lead incident response efforts as part of the on-call rotation.

This role will help shape the security posture of a remote-first technology organization by designing practical defenses, strengthening product and system resilience, and enabling teams to build securely at scale. You will partner closely with engineering teams to bring security into day-to-day workflows while also contributing to incident response, compliance readiness, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings broad security engineering depth, strong technical judgment, and the ability to use automation and AI to improve detection and response.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $225,000 – $275,000 annually
