Job summary

Fresh Consulting seeks a Staff Software Engineer, Security and Cryptography to design, develop, and integrate novel cryptographic systems for an orbital edge compute platform. You will architect a security and data-sovereignty model for multi-tenant workloads and partner with engineers to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Required are 8+ years in systems development with C, C++, or Rust, deep cryptography knowledge, and experience with key management, PKI, and threat modeling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a technical field.
• 8+ years of professional software development with systems languages (C, C++, Rust).
• Strong cryptography knowledge and cryptographic protocols.
• Experience with key management, PKI, and certificate lifecycle.
• Security-focused development practices and threat modeling.
• Experience with cloud/multi-tenant security environments.
• Familiarity with NIST 800-53, FIPS 140-2/3, or CMMC is preferred.
• Post-quantum readiness and cryptographic agility are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate novel cryptographic systems for orbital edge compute.
• Architect security and data sovereignty models for multi-tenant workloads.
• Develop cryptographic solutions for edge constraints and intermittent connectivity.
• Implement key management and certificate lifecycle processes.
• Conduct threat modeling, architecture reviews, and security code reviews.
• Build libraries and services for cryptographic consumption by teams.
• Collaborate with engineers to balance security with time-to-market.
• Integrate cryptography with hardware-backed protection (HSMs/TPMs/TEEs) where applicable.
• Provide secure coding guidance and feedback in reviews.
• Evaluate cryptographic agility and readiness for post-quantum standards.
