Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is seeking a Staff Scientist to lead the scientific strategy for real-time rider pricing and marketplace performance at scale. You will define frameworks, build modular pricing algorithms, and guide cross-functional teams in delivering productionized results.

You will partner with Product and Engineering to drive high-impact opportunities, established guardrails for experiments, and advance causal-inference practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., MS, or BS in quantitative field.
• 6+ years (MS/PhD) or 8+ years (BS) of industry experience with production models.
• Deep expertise in statistical inference and experimental design.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python with distributed data tools.

Responsibilities

• Set the scientific strategy and 1–2 year roadmap for real-time rider pricing.
• Define frameworks and pricing algorithms for modular, scalable models.
• Act as a technical multiplier to improve system efficiency and reduce debt.
• Influence leadership with data-driven strategic recommendations.
• Own the trajectory of pricing systems for long-term scalability.
• Establish guardrails for experiments and causal inference across teams.
