Job summary

Cellanome is seeking an experienced chemist or materials scientist to advance our technology. You will develop novel chemistries, bioconjugation methods, and materials immobilization strategies, working with the research and development teams to push innovations in biomaterials.

The role emphasizes characterization of materials, process development support, and collaborative work across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with biomolecule synthesis/characterization and bioconjugation chemistries.
• Hands-on surface conjugation or particle encapsulation of small molecules, proteins, or DNA.
• Experience in drug screening, controlled drug release, or drug delivery.
• Experience with material characterization techniques (UV-Vis, HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, NMR, FTIR, fluorescence or colorimetric assays).
• Experience with polymer or lipid-based microparticles or nanoparticles.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop novel chemistries or bioconjugation strategies for Cellanome’s consumable product line.
• Develop strategies for immobilization or encapsulation of key reagents on surfaces or in particles.
• Perform characterization of materials and biomaterials using analytical techniques.
• Support chemistry process development and QC development.
• Document and analyze experimental data accurately and communicate results within and across teams.
• Follow laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods at a laboratory bench.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs for approximately 15% of typical working day.
• Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
• Ability to comply with personal protective equipment requirements.
