Job summary

Johnson Matthey in Devon PA is seeking a CAS Global Staff Scientist to lead catalytic research programs, design new catalysts and emission control technologies, and manage multi-disciplinary projects. You will coordinate with global teams, drive tech development, and engage customers with technical guidance.

The role requires a PhD in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) and hands-on experience in catalysis, materials characterisation, and project management, with a strong collaborative

Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, ElectroChemistry, Electro Chemical Engineering or a related scientific discipline, or a Bachelor's degree with relevant industry experience.
  • Strong technical expertise in heterogeneous catalysis.
  • Hands-on experience in catalyst preparation, catalytic reaction testing and material characterisation.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong planning and organisational capabilities, with experience managing complex research projects.
  • Self-motivated approach with the ability to collaborate effectively across global and multicultural teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead IDEA and EVALUATE phase NPI workstreams aligned to CAS strategy and business objectives.
  • Design and deliver research programmes to develop new catalysts, materials and emission control technologies.
  • Manage project budgets, milestones, risks and phase reviews with stakeholder communication.
  • Build partnerships across global development hubs, commercial teams, business development and operations.
  • Support customer engagement through technical presentations, training and system design guidance.
  • Contribute to external collaborations, including university programmes and future technology opportunities.
