Western Governors University is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Salesforce) to lead the evolution of our Salesforce ecosystem, powering student experience, enrollment, and operational excellence. You’ll influence architecture, set standards, and mentor engineers across multiple teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with Salesforce core engineering or equivalent depth in another enterprise stack
• Mastery of async Apex/event-driven patterns at a governance level
• Experience designing multi-system integration architecture and API strategy
• Track record of setting technical standards adopted beyond your own team
• Deep understanding of security architecture and FERPA/compliance in regulated environments
• Ability to mentor and shape technical direction through influence
• Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and partnering with architects on platform capabilities

Responsibilities

• Split time between hands-on engineering/mentoring and serving as the Salesforce architects' implementation partner
• Set automation, integration, security, and DevOps standards across multiple teams
• Own org-wide security posture and compliance decisions for the platform (FERPA-aware)
• Govern enterprise data model decisions and data contracts across systems
• Lead architectural reviews and platform health assessments
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and influence technical direction
• Represent technical perspective to Product, Operations, and Academic leadership
