Job summary

Apptronik is seeking a Staff Compute Engineer to lead the design and implementation of the next-generation compute solution for our humanoid robot platform. You will be the technical lead responsible for architecting a compute solution that meets our most demanding requirements for real‑time performance, sensor bandwidth, and, most critically, functional safety.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, optimize power and thermal management, and drive high‑speed PCB and SoM integration

Qualifications

Experience architecting and shipping high-performance compute solutions for robotics or autonomous systems.
Knowledge of IEC 61508 and safety-critical design.
Experience with RTOS, multi-core processing, and communication protocols (Ethernet, CAN).
Experience with high-bandwidth sensors and data transfer.
Humanoid robotics experience is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in EE/CE; Master’s/PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead architectural design of the next‑generation compute solution for robotics platform.
Define and validate compute requirements for motion, perception, and AI tasks.
Develop scalable compute solution handling high‑bandwidth sensor data.
Design for functional safety with redundant systems and diagnostics.
Collaborate with software, electrical, and systems engineers for integration.
Benchmark performance and optimize power/thermal management.
Design and test high‑speed PCBs for SoMs like NVIDIA Orin.
Lead SI/PI analysis and validate power sequencing.
Own lifecycle from concept to production release and support.
