Job summary

Apptronik Systems, Inc. is seeking a Staff Compute Engineer to lead the design of the next-generation compute solution for our humanoid robot platform.

You will define requirements, architect high-bandwidth, real-time compute, and ensure functional safety in state-of-the-art hardware. You will collaborate with software, electrical, and systems teams to optimize performance and power, mentor engineers, and drive the lifecycle of compute hardware from concept through production, with a focus on

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in embedded systems or robotics compute design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design of the robot's next-generation compute solution, from high-level system architecture to component-level selection.
• Define and validate compute requirements based on robotics algorithms including motion control, perception, and AI tasks.
• Develop a robust and scalable compute solution capable of handling high-bandwidth data from sensors.
• Design for functional safety with redundant systems, fail-safe mechanisms, and diagnostics to meet safety standards.
• Collaborate with software, electrical, and systems engineers to integrate the compute solution with the robot platform.
• Conduct performance benchmarking and power analysis to optimize compute stack for efficiency and thermal management.
• Lead PCB design for SoMs like NVIDIA Orin and high-speed interconnects.
• Perform SI/PI analysis, modeling, and validation.
• Drive selection and qualification of critical components (SoMs, memory, storage, interconnects).
• Develop validation and test plans (DVT/PVT) and ensure regulatory compliance (FCC, CE).
• Stay updated on embedded systems, RTOS, and robotics compute hardware.
