Job Summary
As the leader of the health care team, provides professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan of the organization. Remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.

Essential Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse demonstrates proficiency by exhibiting the following skills, competencies, and behaviors:

Nursing Process
Develops and contributes to individualized care plans based on assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating outcomes; ensures multidisciplinary input; and communicates effectively with patients and families.

Documentation
Ensures accurate, legible, timely charting that reflects nursing interventions and evaluations; utilizes electronic systems effectively for patient care.

Clinical Outcomes
Discusses patient progress with the team; demonstrates competency; makes informed nursing decisions; participates in quality improvement activities.

Workplace Safety
Adheres to safety principles; applies standard precautions; maintains a safe environment.

Patient Care Experience
Practices excellent customer service; responds promptly to patient needs; maintains confidentiality; creates a clean environment; communicates clearly; and strives to exceed patient expectations.

Team Commitment
Acts as an effective team member; handles conflicts constructively; takes accountability; mentors others; participates in professional development; and supports a collaborative environment.

Experience
Minimum six (6) months of recent experience in an acute or sub-acute care setting within the last three (3) years.

N/A

License, Certification, Registration
Registered Nurse License (California); Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.

Additional Requirements
Basic arrhythmia knowledge required.

Notes
Twelve-hour shifts are from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm; backup 8-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
