The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. This role demonstrates competency in delivering care to a primarily adult population. The job description is based on the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition (2010).
Clinical competence and experience in caring for and managing target patient populations specific to the area of employment.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice, usually acquired through completion of an accredited School of Nursing. To be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse, and upon hire, any non-BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed RN experience must enroll in a BSN or higher degree program. Acceptance is expected within 15 months, and the degree must be completed within 5 years (or 6 years for MSN, DNP, or PhD programs). A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Current Wisconsin RN license or Multi-state license from a participating NLC state. BLS certification within 90 days, ACLS within 6 months, TNCC within one year, and PALS within one year of hire are required. PALS must be obtained by 6/30/2024 for incumbents prior to 6/1/2023.
