Job summary

Bryan Health is seeking a Critical Care (CVICU) RN to manage care for patients with acute cardiovascular disease and respiratory failure, using ACLS/PALS guidelines and advanced monitoring. The Staff RN will assess needs, participate in care planning, and document responses for outcome progress.

Responsibilities include supervision of staff, education for patients/families, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless transitions of care.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure from Nebraska or an approved compact state.
• Evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by standards.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
• Experience in an ICU/CVICU preferred; ECCO/ACLS/ECG/hemodynamic monitoring within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Care for CVICU patients with acute cardiovascular and multi-system failure.
• Perform interventions per ACLS/PALS guidelines and ventilator management.
• Document care and coordinate with interdisciplinary team.
• Supervise licensed practical nurses and support staff as appropriate.

Education

RN licensure in Nebraska or compact state

Job description

PRIOR CVICU RN EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The Critical Care (CVICU) RN manages the care of patients with conditions including: acute cardiovascular disease, respiratory failure, and multi-system failure. Performs therapeutic nursing interventions consistent with the Critical Care Unit including: ACLS/PALS guidelines, dysrhythmia assessment and intervention, pre and postoperative of a patient undergoing cardiac bypass and thoracic surgery, airway and ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive medication administration, and management of cardiac assistive devices including LVAD's.

The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for meeting patient's priority needs by assessing, participating in interdisciplinary care planning, providing and /or delegating care and evaluating patients' responses and progress toward clinical outcomes.The Staff RN contributes to an efficient and effective work environment through activities including professional communication and documentation, preceptoring and/or resourcing of others.

The Staff RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and/or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as described in Nebraska Statute 38.

• Evaluates patient's progress toward established outcomes.
• Incorporates cultural considerations into the plan/delivery of care.
• Includes family or significant others in the care of the patient as appropriate.
• Documents patient care and related information according to Bryan Medical Center procedures for documentation.
• Provides care in conjunction with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Facilitates patient's transition to the next level of care.
• Actively participates in continued learning opportunities and continued self-development pertinent to the work unit and duties of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act.Must provide evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards/regulations. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.Experience in an ICU/CVICU is preferred. ECCO, ACLS, ECG, and Hemodynamic monitoring within 6 months of hire.
