Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, NE is seeking an Emergency Registered Nurse to perform therapeutic nursing interventions in the ED, following ACLS/PALS protocols and managing airway, wounds, and pain. The role includes triage, crisis intervention, and education for patients and families.
Precepting and serving as a resource are part of the responsibilities. Requirements include Nebraska RN licensure or compact state, BLS, and within one year ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC; two years RN experience
Must have 2 years or RN experience.
The Emergency RN performs therapeutic nursing interventions consistent with the Emergency Department including: ACLS/PALS protocols; Arrhythmia detection and treatment; Airway management; Wound care; Pain management; Crisis intervention; Discharge planning/instructions; Stroke scale. Initiates appropriate Emergency Protocols. Manages the care of pediatric/adult patients with conditions common to the Emergency Department, including: Cardiac, respiratory distress, ENT, GYN, wound, orthopedic, and neurological emergencies; Trauma emergencies. Serves as preceptor, charge nurse, or triage nurse based on skill development and at the discretion of the manager. Serves as resource for student and orientees. Assists in the collection of data for medical screenings. Anticipates and intervenes to meet patient and family needs. Makes appropriate referrals to Care Management, ED Connections, Voices of Hope, etc. Assists the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in the care of the sexual assault patient.
The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for meeting patient's priority needs by assessing, participating in interdisciplinary care planning, providing and /or delegating care and evaluating patients' responses and progress toward clinical outcomes. The Staff RN contributes to an efficient and effective work environment through activities including professional communication and documentation, preceptoring and/or resourcing of others.
The Staff RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and/or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as described in Nebraska Statute 38.
Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act.Must provide evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards/regulations. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.ACLS, PALS, TNCC and ENPC required within first year of employment. Two (2) years' experience as a Registered Nurse recommended.
