Fireworks seeks a Member of Technical Staff on the Research team, designed for PhD graduates who want their work to reach production. You will push the boundaries of generative AI, advancing LLMs and multimodal systems, and help build high-performance AI infrastructure.

You'll be paired with a senior researcher from day one, tackling real research problems and deploying models with top-tier impact for global customers, often within weeks.

Qualifications

• PhD completed within the last 6 months or expected completion by Dec 2026 in a related field.
• Research background demonstrated via dissertation, publications, or projects.
• Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate complex research to audiences with varied backgrounds.
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++ and experience with ML frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct foundational research to advance LLMs and multimodal systems.
• Design, implement, and evaluate novel models, training methods, and optimizations.
• Collaborate with engineering to deploy research prototypes into production systems.
• Analyze results, identify bottlenecks, and iterate to improve model quality.
• Translate doctoral research ideas into the internal research roadmap.
