Job summary

Fireworks AI is seeking a researcher finishing a PhD to push the boundaries of generative AI and multimodal systems. As a Member of Technical Staff, you’ll work with a senior researcher on real production problems from day one and see models deployed with leading customers in weeks, not years.

You will join a collaborative research team focused on efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of high-performance AI infrastructure, with mentorship and rapid execution.

Qualifications

• PhD completed within last 6 months or expected by December 2026.
• Research in AI/ML/Physics or related area with publications or projects.
• Strong analytical and quantitative problem solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate research to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct foundational research to advance LLMs and multimodal systems.
• Design and evaluate novel model architectures and training methods.
• Collaborate with engineering to ship research prototypes to production.
• Analyze results, identify bottlenecks, and improve model quality.
• Translate doctoral research ideas into the internal agenda.
