Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead design and integration of a real-time Run-Time Assurance system for autonomous platforms. You will drive C++ safety-critical development, ensure high assurance interfaces, and mentor peers on safe software practices.

Responsibilities cover architecture, testing, and certifiability artifacts while collaborating across the Foundations team to support Shield AI’s edge autonomy products like X-BAT and Hivemind.

Qualifications

10+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Expertise in designing and developing C++ safety-critical software with real-time guarantees.
Mentor to engineers, promoting software best practices for quality.
Experience integrating software on real-world physical systems with high reliability.

Responsibilities

Drive architecture, development, integration and testing of a Run-Time Assurance module.
Collaborate with Foundations to integrate with low-assurance mission-autonomy software.
Specialize and test RTA across platforms to ensure robust fail-safe behavior.
Promote principled software processes including reviews and audit trails.
Produce documentation for certifiability: ADRs, ICDs, system models.
