Job summary

Abbott in Plymouth, MN, seeks a Staff R&D Engineer in Predictive Engineering & Validation within the Electrophysiology division. You provide technical leadership for bench testing strategies that drive product development and preclinical studies, partnering across functions to expand capabilities and improve decision quality.

You will mentor teams, develop new testing platforms, and ensure regulatory and quality system alignment while advancing electrophysiology therapies and technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (BM/ME/EE/ChE or related).
• 8+ years of medical device product development, testing or engineering experience.
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives and cross-functional teams.
• Experience in experimental design and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, development, and implementation of advanced bench testing capabilities for electrophysiology therapies.
• Establish roadmaps to use bench data for design decisions and cost optimization.
• Develop innovative test methods, simulated use models, and evaluation platforms.
• Partner with R&D, Clinical, Systems Engineering, Regulatory, Quality, and Product Development teams to align testing with objectives.
• Mentor engineers in experimental design, data analysis, and bench testing best practices.
• Present technical recommendations to leadership and project teams.
• Support verification and validation strategies and regulatory documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accelerate timelines.
• Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ISO standards, and company procedures.
