Job summary

Abbott, a global healthcare leader, seeks a Staff R&D Engineer in the Electrophysiology division at the Plymouth, MN location. You will provide technical leadership for advanced bench testing strategies supporting the portfolio, driving data-informed design decisions.

You will work across engineering, clinical, and regulatory functions to develop test methods and models, accelerating development while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree required in a technical field.
• 8+ years in medical device product development, testing, or engineering.
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives and cross-functional influence.
• Strong understanding of experimental design and data-driven decisions.
• Experience developing bench/preclinical testing methodologies.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy and implementation of advanced bench testing capabilities for electrophysiology therapies.
• Create roadmaps to increase bench data usage for product design and decisions.
• Develop innovative test methods and simulation platforms for clinically relevant conditions.
• Collaborate with R&D, Clinical, Systems Engineering, Regulatory, QA, and Product teams.
• Mentor engineers in experimental design and data analysis.
• Present technical recommendations to leadership and project teams.
