Huxley is seeking a Senior Python Engineer to design and build the core backend systems powering a fintech platform. The role offers a hybrid setup in Austin or remote work for US-based candidates, with meaningful ownership and opportunities to influence architectural decisions.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership to turn ideas into shipped features, using Python with FastAPI/Flask and modern cloud-native tooling. Equity is included in the compensation package.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience building production systems.
• Strong Python expertise and experience designing scalable backend architectures.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, and modern cloud-native development.
• Proficient with PostgreSQL or similar databases.
• Ability to own features end-to-end and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale backend services using Python and FastAPI/Flask.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and scale backend services using Python and FastAPI/Flask.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of software engineering experience building production systems.
• Startup experience with growth stage company.
• Strong Python expertise and experience designing scalable backend architectures.
• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar frameworks.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL or similar databases.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, and modern cloud-native development.
• Familiarity with event-driven systems, queues, and messaging technologies.
• Strong ownership mindset and comfort operating in a fast-moving startup environment.

Bonus Points

• Experience with Kafka, Redis, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Airflow.
• Experience building AI-powered products, RAG pipelines, or agentic workflows.
• Startup experience scaling products from early-stage to growth-stage.
• Active user of tools like Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar.
