Staff Psychologist - Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP)

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements and submit your application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of your application.

Duties

1. Provide a full range of psychodiagnostic services including assessments and evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques in outpatient mental health programs.
2. Participate in telemental health activities to serve Veterans in remote locations.
3. Deliver evidence-based therapies such as CBT, MI, and ACT, working within the BHIP team and providing consultation to staff.
4. Provide ethical individual and group mental health services, including assessments, treatment planning, and follow-up care, with independent operation upon proper credentialing.
5. Serve as a consultant to medical center staff and trainees on psychological characteristics and treatment expectations.
6. Work some early mornings, evenings, weekends, or variable shifts to meet Veteran needs.
7. Provide clinical supervision to trainees and participate in related committees and training.
8. Participate in team meetings, chart reviews, program evaluation, and ensure timely documentation and compliance with standards.
9. Contribute to hospital committees and program development activities.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Full Time, 0730-1600 or 0800-1630. Telework in accordance with VA policy. Not a virtual position.

Qualifications

Basic requirements include U.S. citizenship, a doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program, and a current unrestricted license. Experience levels vary by grade (GS-11 to GS-13), with specific KSAs outlined for each level. Preferred experience includes behavioral health and behavioral medicine.
