UCSF Health in San Francisco seeks a staff psychiatrist to provide direct psychiatric assessment, consultation and medication management for trauma-related disorders. The role involves collaboration with TRC-RTC therapists and support for co-morbid conditions, including SUD, depression, and bipolar disorder.
Ideal candidates hold an MD with board certification/eligibility in Psychiatry, California license and DEA, plus outpatient psychiatry experience.
The primary role of the Staff Psychiatrist is to provide direct psychiatric assessment, consultation and medication management to patients who have been referred for the treatment of trauma-related disorders and related symptoms (e.g., sleep disturbance). Additionally, patients may need support for pre-existing psychiatric disorders such as recurrent major depression, bipolar disorder or substance use disorder. Approximately one‑third of TRC‑RTC patients accept or request referral to psychiatric care, with needs ranging from support for insomnia to complex pharmacology for those with co‑morbid diagnoses. Working with TRC‑RTC therapist colleagues, the staff psychiatrist will support screening for SUD and offer MAT for those whose use interferes with recovery from trauma.
