Job summary

Shield AI in Dallas, TX is seeking a Staff Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer to lead propulsion hardware from concept through production release. You will own mechanical design, perform strength, thermal, fatigue and vibration analyses, and drive prototypes, tests, and production cut‑ins.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years of professional mechanical design experience.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD modeling and detailed mechanical design.
• Experience developing production‑ready drawings and documentation.
• Understanding of GD&T and manufacturing processes.
• Experience owning components through the full product lifecycle.
• Experience supporting prototype builds, testing, and design iteration.
• Strong cross‑functional communication and project coordination.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced hardware development environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead propulsion system design and subsystems from concept to production release.
• Perform static strength, stiffness, fatigue, vibration, thermal analyses.
• Create and maintain high‑quality CAD models and drawings.
• Route and retain wire harnesses and propulsion tubing.
• Own ECOs and support configuration management.
• Coordinate design releases with manufacturing, quality, supply chain and flight test.
• Execute verification and validation test campaigns and analyze data.
• Work with electrical, aero‑performance, software, manufacturing and flight‑test teams to ensure integration.
• Investigate failures and drive corrective actions through design updates.
