Job summary

Closr, a fast-growing developer infrastructure company, is seeking an experienced software leader to set the technical direction for AI-native developer tools. You will own architecture, drive 0-to-1 product builds, and stay hands-on.

Based in Flatiron District, NYC, this role is in-person five days a week with visa transfers supported. You will mentor senior engineers, translate strategy into technical roadmaps, and own production outcomes including reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years as a full-stack engineer who has led the technical direction of a product from an early stage to one known for an excellent customer experience.
• Strong TypeScript and React skills, and the ability to explain product and UX decisions.
• Daily use of coding agents, with concrete examples of how they changed your workflow or product.

Responsibilities

A fast-growing developer infrastructure company runs customer workloads on its own bare-metal fleet and orchestrates tens of millions of micro-VMs a month for thousands of companies. It reached about $10M in ARR in under two years, mostly through organic channels, and has raised $58.5M from seed to Series B from leading investors. The team is 37 people, and they're now building a background coding agent on top of their infrastructure.

About the role

You'll set the technical direction for new AI-native developer tools that don't exist yet. You'll own architecture, drive 0-to-1 product builds and stay hands-on.

What we're looking for

• 7+ years as a full-stack engineer who has led the technical direction of a product from an early stage to one known for an excellent customer experience
• Strong TypeScript and React skills, and the ability to explain product and UX decisions
• Daily use of coding agents, with concrete examples of how they changed your workflow or product
• A record of leading through influence as an individual contributor, and clear communication with engineers, leadership and non-technical colleagues

Nice to have

• Experience at a developer tools or infrastructure company building products for engineers

Location and visas

Flatiron District, New York City, in person 5 days a week. Visa transfers are supported. New visas are not available.

The process has four steps and can move quickly, sometimes back to back.

• Screen (30 minutes): a conversation about your background and what you want next.
• Systems design (about an hour): a technical discussion with one of the engineers about how you would design a real system.
• Hands-on build (2 hours): you and one of the company's co-founders work through a small zero-to-one product build together, so they can see how you make decisions. You can use coding agents such as Claude or Cursor.
• Final conversation: a last stage with the company's leadership.
