Job summary

Duolingo is seeking a Staff Designer focused on Monetization to define and shape the free and paid user experiences across Duolingo’s language app. You will guide the monetization design strategy, partnering with engineers and PMs to set long-term roadmaps and short-term tactics.

You’ll collaborate with designers and artists to evolve the design language, tackle broad concepts and tactical features, and consider copy, animation, and business impact in every decision.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve both the free and paid user experiences across Monetization surfaces within the Duolingo language app
• Play a leadership role on the Monetization design team in shaping our product roadmap and product development
• Partner with engineers and product managers to define both the long-term strategy and the short-term tactics for our products
• Work collaboratively with designers and artists to build upon and expand the Duolingo design language
• Sometimes work on very broadly defined, loose concepts, and sometimes on narrowly defined, tactical features
• Consider all parts when crafting the experience: from copy to animation to business impact

About this role

This role reports to the Director of Product Design on Monetization. Monetization is the revenue engine that powers our company. Our teams focus on unlocking value for users through subscriptions, ads and in-app purchases. As a Staff Designer, you'll play a key role in defining how users experience that value, from their first touchpoint to being long-term loyal users.

As a member of the Duolingo Design team, this role is an instrumental creative partner in key monetization vectors at Duolingo-from our delightful purchase flow to our seasonal avatar events. At Duolingo, we take pride in and agonize over crafting a user-friendly (and fun) experience for everyone.

Outstanding candidates will have

• Experience designing for fast-paced Monetization, Growth or subscription-based products
• Experience with strong experimentation culture and iterative improvements
• An interest in developing design talent and improving design craft

The offered salary is dependent upon several factors, including work experience, skills, and internal peer comparisons. The posted range is subject to change in the future.
