Job summary

Gusto in New York is seeking a Product Designer to partner with Product, Engineering, Data, and Research to shape strategy and create a cohesive retirement experience across employer and employee journeys.

You’ll lead projects, co-own priorities and success metrics, and drive alignment across Retirement and key partners (Payroll, Benefits, Support/Ops). The role emphasizes AI-enabled prototyping and design leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in product design with end-to-end shipped work.
• Strong craft across interaction design, information architecture, and visual design.
• Demonstrated AI fluency in design practice.
• Experience partnering with Product, Engineering and Data.

Responsibilities

• Define customer problems and measurable outcomes across activation, engagement and retention.
• Collaborate with Data and Research to understand funnel drop-offs and retention drivers.
• Drive full design process from scoping to MVP and iteration.
• Translate regulatory/tax requirements into clear flows, content, and UI patterns.
• Craft compelling product narratives to align cross-functional stakeholders.
• Mentor design peers and elevate craft; drive AI-driven innovation.
• Champion the design system and contribute patterns for cohesion.
• Use AI to prototype quickly and learn, delivering clickable prototypes.
