Job summary

Within seeks a Staff Product Designer to lead multiple complex design efforts from problem framing to shipped, real-world experiences in an enterprise context. You will guide the product's direction and ensure cohesion across teams.

You will set the systems vision, own AI-native UX patterns, collaborate with engineering to translate designs into code, and mentor designers to raise the craft. This onsite role is based in Manhattan, NY and includes equity, generous benefits, and relocation support

Job description

Within is seeking a Staff Product Designer to operate as a senior individual contributor, leading multiple complex design efforts from early problem definition through shipped, real-world experiences. This role also sets the direction for systems-level product and design-to-code practices, while shaping AI-native enterprise UX patterns that support dependable human-in-the-loop workflows.

What you will do

• Own a product area end to end: Lead complex, strategic design problems from problem framing to a real, shipped experience.
• Set the systems vision: Keep the whole product coherent as it scales by anticipating how flows, data, and product areas connect, including cross-area collisions that can happen before they do.
• Define how design and code work together: Partner with engineering to bring designs into the product, using AI tools fluently (including Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex) and establishing prototyping and shipping practices the team can adopt.
• Own AI-native UX patterns: Lead end-to-end UX for AI-native and agentic workflows, including human oversight, transparency, trust calibration, and evaluation criteria for what good AI output looks like, helping set the patterns used across the product.
• Ground decisions in users and outcomes: Drive discovery and user research using qualitative signals (interviews, usability testing) and quantitative data (product analytics, metrics, experiments), defining and measuring outcomes your work is accountable for.
• Drive design-system strategy in the AI era: Own the design system including components, tokens, patterns, and governance so it scales across design and code, enabling consistent, accessible, on-brand UI production. Set guardrails that keep AI-assisted UI on-brand and coherent as the team and product grow.
• Level up the team: Raise the craft bar through mentorship, feedback, and knowledge-sharing.

• A systems thinker at product scale: Understanding of how components, flows, and data combine into one coherent experience across a complex enterprise product, with the ability to spot cross-area collisions in advance.
• Comfort with ambiguity and high agency: Ability to identify high-value problems, commit to direction, and move strategy and people even without authority.
• Additional fit markers: Extensive experience designing complex software, leading ambiguous high-impact work end to end, and examples of raising the bar across a team.

Compensation and location

Location: Manhattan, NY (onsite)

Salary: USD 250,000 - 313,000 per yearly
