Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff Product Data Scientist for the CTM Data Science team, focused on Gmail, Chat, and Calendar. This role builds metric frameworks and scalable analytics systems to support product development and self-serve analytics for a communications platform used by 3B+ users.

Based onsite in New York, NY, you will connect product engineering with central data infrastructure to deliver unified measurement, analytics infrastructure, and AI-aware evaluation methods across Workspace

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics or Economics.
• 10 years of analytics experience solving product or business problems with statistical analysis and coding (Python, R, SQL) OR 8 years with a Master’s degree.
• Master’s degree in a related quantitative field.
• 12 years of analytics experience with statistical analysis and coding (Python, R, SQL).

Responsibilities

• Lead research and development of metric frameworks that quantify user engagement and productivity.
• Develop methodologies to evaluate GenAI and agentic tooling adoption and efficiency in Workspace products.
• Serve as a strategic liaison between product engineering and central data infrastructure teams.
• Marshal resources and influence partner roadmaps while driving multi-team telemetry and infrastructure projects from inception through execution.
• Design and build scalable data models and analytics architecture connecting data across multiple product domains.
• Scope and drive initiatives to enable self-serve analytics.
• Design unified semantic layers, governed metric stores, and executive dashboards, while leading AI-powered self-serve tooling.
