Job summary

Google is seeking a Data Scientist/Analytics Engineer to support Gmail, Chat, and Calendar with quantitative insights and strategic analytics. You will partner with product and engineering to build scalable data models and deliver actionable recommendations to leadership.

You will translate complex data into compelling narratives, influence roadmaps, and help teams measure engagement and productivity at scale for 3B+ users.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field is required; Master’s preferred.
• 10 years of analytics experience with statistical analysis and coding (or 8 years with a Master’s).

Responsibilities

• Lead metric framework research to quantify engagement and productivity; evaluate GenAI tooling.
• Bridge product engineering and data infrastructure; drive multi-team telemetry projects.
• Design scalable data models and analytics architecture across product domains.
• Develop self-serve analytics with semantic layers and executive dashboards.

Job description

• Lead the research and development of metric frameworks that quantify user engagement and productivity. Pioneer new methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness, user adoption, and efficiency gains of GenAI and agentic tooling embedded within Workspace products.
• Act as the strategic connective tissue between product engineering and central data infrastructure teams. Rather than just identifying gaps, you will marshal resources, influence partner roadmaps, and drive complex, multi-team telemetry and infrastructure projects from inception to execution.
• Design and build scalable data models and analytical architecture that connect data across multiple distinct product domains, ensuring cohesion rather than isolated, product-specific silos.
• Scope and drive initiatives to enable self-serve analytics. Design unified semantic layers, governed metric stores, and high-impact executive dashboards, while leading next-generation AI-powered self-serve tooling.
