Job summary

Google’s Collab Data Science team is seeking a Staff Product Data Scientist to support Workspace product development across Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Pics, and Vids. You will shape how the organization measures product outcomes, evaluate Generative AI, and scale analytics via metric frameworks and data modeling.

This is an onsite position in New York, NY. You will lead scalable data models, collaborate with product engineering and data infrastructure, and build self-serve analytics through

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or related quantitative field.
• 10 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, including statistical analysis and coding (Python, R, SQL), or 8 years with a Master’s degree.
• 8 years of experience with core product analytics concepts, including user engagement metrics, funnel analysis, and A/B testing infrastructure.
• 8 years of experience in data modeling, designing semantic layers, and metric stores that support organizational consumption.
• Experience operating distributed data processing engines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the research and development of metric frameworks and methodologies to assess Generative AI and agentic tooling within Workspace products.
• Collaborate with product engineering and central data infrastructure teams to resolve ambiguity and manage telemetry initiatives from inception through execution.
• Design and build scalable data models and analytic architecture connecting data across product domains.
• Scope and deliver self-serve analytics by creating unified semantic layers and dashboards.
