Axon is hiring a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer for our Boston office with a hybrid schedule. You will lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate across Product, Design, and Engineering to tackle scalability and availability challenges in our Records Management system.

The role requires 8+ years of full-stack experience, strong backend in Go/Java/Scala, frontend with JavaScript/TypeScript/React, and solid SQL and cloud design skills.

Your Impact

Axon Records is a cloud-based records management system that modernizes how law enforcement agencies capture, manage, and access data. It streamlines report writing and approval workflows with structured data entry, real-time collaboration, and intelligent automation. Our product’s north star is to make an impact on the world by reducing the amount of time officers spend at their desks writing reports and increase the amount of time officers spend out in their communities helping the public.

You are a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer with experience building large-scale software applications. You have deep interest in backend technologies. You are also familiar with frontend and mobile technologies and challenges. You are excited about the care, feeding and growth of a scalable cloud-based systems and the engineering organizations that build them. You can instill new ideas into our engineering architecture and organization to help lead us into the next phase of scale and growth of our Records Management system.

What You’ll Do

Work Location: This role is based out of our Boston Office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. Reports to: Director, Software Engineering

• Lead engineering architecture design reviews
• Set a high technical bar for the team through code and architecture design reviews
• Mentoring engineers
• Working across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to solve some of our biggest technical challenges within our stack for our customers
• Improve our Engineering process, including long-term thinking, sprint planning and stand-ups
• Building services that adhere to our high bar on availability and latency in this mission-critical space
• Working with the latest open source technologies

What You Bring

• 8+ years of experience in full stack software engineering
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent
• Experience building complex and impactful software in a team environment
• Experience designing and delivering high-availability, scalable cloud-based systems
• You write beautiful, simple, maintainable code for backend microservices
• Deep skill in driving technical solutions across multiple teams
• Backend service experience in managed languages such as Go, Java, Scala
• Frontend experience in Javascript + Typescript, React,
• Strong experience with database, especially SQL
• Interest in helping to set the technical and organizational direction for a growing engineering team across multiple global locations

Base Pay Range

$168,750-$270,000 USD
