Job summary

Axon is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead design and development of large-scale, high-availability data pipelines for public safety applications. You will mentor engineers, own architectural decisions, and collaborate with product managers and clients to deliver impactful features.

You will drive planning, code reviews, and cross-team collaboration, while growing a top-tier engineering team to ensure security, reliability, and performance across the stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a highly technical field (CS/Engineering/Physics/Math or equivalent).
• 4+ years of experience in software engineering.
• 3+ years of experience managing software developers building customer-facing software.
• Track record of planning and delivering multiple overlapping projects.
• Experience implementing engineering processes focused on security, availability, scalability and operational discipline.
• Experience managing projects with third-party integrations / APIs.
• Good understanding of ETL processes.

You are a Software Engineering Manager with experience building large-scale software applications. You have deep interest in backend or frontend technologies but are comfortable across the whole stack. You are excited about the care, feeding and growth of high-availability, scalable cloud-based systems.

You want to lead a team of software experts in building complex and impactful software systems while keeping your hands in the code. You also enjoy mentoring and growing junior engineers.

Location

This role is based out of our Seattle office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. What You'll Do

• Lead design and development of scalable, high-availability data pipelines supporting mission-critical features such as real-time 911 data ingestion
• Driving the execution of your team by leading planning, prioritization, stand-ups, and team retro meetings
• Leading the technical direction of the team through architectural discussions and code reviews
• Working with product managers, senior engineers, and client teams to get 'ahead of the curve' and explore new opportunities.
• Join forces with recruiting to hire a top-notch engineering team
• Managing engineers and their careers with 1:1s and performance reviews
• Execute and deliver new features and improvements to customers on a regular basis
• Coaching your team for continuous improvements

What You Bring

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or an equivalent highly technical field
• 4+ years of experience in software engineering
• 3+ years of experience managing software developers building customer-facing software applications
• A track record of planning and delivering on multiple overlapping projects spanning several months
• Experience implementing an engineering process that emphasized security, availability, scalability, and operational discipline
• Experience managing projects that include integrations with third party solutions / Building and supporting 3rd party APIs
• Good understanding of the ETL process

Base Pay Range

$150,000-$240,000 USD
