Job summary

PadSplit is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to lead our platform infrastructure and backend architecture as we scale our marketplace. You will drive platform strategy, reliability, and developer productivity while partnering across engineering teams to build secure, scalable solutions that support long-term growth.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and backend design, with a focus on mentoring teams and elevating technical excellence across the organization.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing and operating large-scale backend platforms and distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in Django production environments and modernization.
• Expertise architecting and operating AWS cloud environments.
• Proven ability to design resilient, secure, and scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical roadmap for platform infrastructure, reliability, and scalability initiatives.
• Design and review complex architectures to support growth and changing business needs.
• Establish engineering standards and patterns across teams to improve productivity.
• Improve observability, incident response, and operational excellence for the platform.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design leaders to align technical investments with business goals.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering capabilities across the organization.
• Develop backend services, infrastructure tooling, and shared platform capabilities.
• Identify technical debt, scalability risks, and vulnerabilities early.
