Job summary

WME - William Morris Endeavour is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own a major area of our platform. This is a senior ownership role focused on architecture and roadmap, not day-to-day task execution.

You will lead engineers across product surfaces, influence technical direction, and partner with a TPM to plan and execute. We value AI-assisted development and modern cloud tooling, including Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes, to move fast while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong full-stack background with React, TypeScript, Next.js.
• Backend experience with Node.js, scalable services and APIs.
• Experience designing and managing relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure on Azure, including serverless, managed services.
• Containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Strong product instincts and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own an area of the platform and outcomes for one or more teams.
• Flag risks early and push back on unrealistic scope.
• Provide context to engineers about priorities and tradeoffs.
• Maintain technical health and staffing for your area.
• Define and defend the roadmap for your area.
• Mentor and grow engineers into technical leaders.
• Partner with a TPM to plan and execute.
• Make architectural calls and manage debt.
• Shape architecture across multiple areas.
