Job summary

Gemini is hiring a Staff Platform Engineer to lead the internal engineering platform. You will shape platform strategy across cloud, networking, compute, storage, and automation, partnering with engineering, security, data, and product leaders to deliver reliable platform products.

You will build self-service workflows, developer tools, and automation, with a focus on scalable and observable systems. The role requires deep production experience and mentoring across teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software or infrastructure engineering with ownership of production systems.
• Proficient in Go, Python, or TypeScript with experience building maintainable services.
• Hands-on experience operating cloud infrastructures and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, automation, and scalable delivery pipelines.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments in production.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for platform capabilities across cloud, compute, and networking.
• Lead architecture decisions from design through production operation.
• Build and maintain platform services, APIs, CLIs, and automation.
• Create self-service capabilities for environments, deployments, and infra changes.
• Improve observability, incident response, and postmortems to reduce toil.
