Job summary

Rippling is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Documents Platform in San Francisco. You will shape architecture, build reusable capabilities, and drive end-to-end experiences across HR, payroll, and more.

You will partner with product and engineering teams to simplify complex document needs into scalable platform services, owning the technical direction and elevating engineering standards across the suite.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with leadership on complex initiatives.
• Translate ambiguous problems into scalable systems, APIs, and reusable solutions.
• End-to-End ownership across backend architecture, data models, APIs and UX.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives and align teams around complex problems.
• Strong fundamentals; Python, TypeScript and React a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap and drive architectural direction for the Documents platform.
• Build reusable document capabilities powering Rippling’s product suite.
• Design scalable APIs and systems to support growing use cases and integrations.
• Shape the product experience with partner collaboration for end-to-end flows.
• Lead across teams, influence technical decisions and raise engineering standards.
