Job summary

Rippling seeks a Staff Software Engineer for the Documents Platform to shape the technical and product direction. You will work across backend services and customer-facing surfaces, partnering with product and engineering teams to turn complex document needs into scalable platform capabilities.

You will help define architecture, guide cross-team initiatives, and ensure high-quality document experiences across Rippling’s product suite, balancing scale with usability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with leadership on complex initiatives.
• Translate ambiguous problems into scalable systems and reusable solutions.
• Able to own backend architecture, data models, APIs, and user-facing aspects.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives and align teams around challenges.
• Proficient in Python, TypeScript, and React is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Own the Technical Roadmap: drive architecture and direction for the Documents platform.
• Build reusable products: create shared document capabilities across Rippling's suite.
• Design for scale: develop extensible APIs and systems for growing use cases.
• Shape the Product Experience: collaborate to deliver intuitive end-to-end document experiences.
• Lead across teams: influence decisions and raise the engineering bar across the platform.
